Be Humble

Happy Tuesday Family,

Being humble is a hard thing.  I think it is part of our human nature to work to make things better for oneself.  When we do good we feel proud, and I don’t think that is necessarily a bad thing. However, over time we can forget who really is the King in our lives.  Who really is the creator of everything.  Who really is the Lord of all things.  We are to walk humbly with God.

Read: James 4:1-10

Questions to Consider:
1.     Where are some areas in your life where you have put worldly items or habits above God?
2.    How might you draw closer to God?

Activity for the Day:  The Wesley Covenant Prayer is a great way to help you focus your prayer life.  For the rest of the week use either the traditional version of the prayer or the contemporary version of the prayer as your morning prayer.

Traditional Version
I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed by thee or laid aside by thee.
Exalted for thee or brought low for thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
Let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.

Contemporary Version
I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, place me with whom you will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be put to work for you or set aside for you,
Praised for you or criticized for you.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and fully surrender all things to your glory and service.
And now, O wonderful and holy God,
Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer,
you are mine, and I am yours.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
Let it also be made in heaven.
Amen.

Blessings,

Kristyne
