A Word about Patience

The Lord’s blessings to you all in this new day!

I hope you have been digging up some deep nuggets of wisdom from the book of James. Today’s passage is very relevant for me in this year as many of my family, who are Kansas farmers, are having a bad harvest because of all the rain and storms that went through the mid-west this spring. It has always amazed me that most of the farmers I have known have an amazing patience when it comes to their crops, even though their very lively hood is their harvest. I believe their patience comes from their deep faith, which is what we will be examining today in James. I hope you have a fun time reading the word and listening for the voice of God in today’s study.

Read: James 5:7-12

Questions to Consider:
1.     What is the most difficult thing you have ever had to wait for? Did you show patience?
2.    James encourages the reader to look at the prophets and at Job. How did Job and the prophets show patience?
3.    Are there any things in your life that seem to continually return that test your patience?

Activity for the Day: One of Wesley’s 21 Questions asks: Do I grumble or complain constantly?  How can we work in our lives to move from a habit of grumbling and complaining to a posture of patience in all things?  Write about this in your journal.

Blessings,

Jim
